Tips For Dealing With DLL Issues

DLL files are an integral part of your Windows operating system. However, since most users are ignorant about the very existence of these important files, they feel totally helpless when their computer encounters DLL file errors. A little knowledge will not only help users understand the function of these files, but will also enable them to fix DLL errors on their own.

DLL or Dynamic Link Library files can be defined as common files that can be used to plug in different programs whenever they require a particular task to be achieved. These files were created to make things simple, more efficient and smaller in size. Like other computer files, DLL files can develop errors because of various reasons including:

  1. If a DLL file gets deleted from the system by mistake, you will get a missing DLL error. You may get a message like “advrcntr2.dll not found”. This advrcntr2.dll error is associated with the Nero burning program.
  2. A DLL file becomes corrupt due to a malware infection caused by a virus or a spyware.
  3. Two DLL files of different applications develop conflict with each other for some unknown reason and cause DLL errors.
  4. A good DLL file is overwritten by mistake with a bad file. This can happen during an installation of an application.
  5. Any interruption in download of a program may lead to broken DLL file. When you try to install this application with a broken or invalid DLL file, it may produce an error.
  6. Hardware or driver errors often cause DLL errors. For example, you may get this error “stlang.dll could not be loaded” when drivers are uninstalled.

When your computer faces a DLL error, an error message is displayed on the screen. A typical DLL error message contains the file name and a general description of the problem.
